Deleted episodes from Mais Hamdan’s show
The Egyptian Television Network has deleted six complete episodes from the second season of the entertainment show “100 Masa”, which is hosted by Jordanian actress Mais Hamdan and directed by Khaled Shabana. The decision has outraged the actress and director.
According to the London based Elaph, it seems that the network has finally responded to requests and demands by audiences that requested the show be stop. The censorship committee has in fact deleted almost half of the already recorded 13 episodes which they believed were in some ways insulting to people and Egyptian society.
The director was very disappointed with the decision and threatened to take the matter to higher officials like the Minister of Media and Communication in the hope that the decision to delete will be cancelled.
On her part, Mais stressed that the show in no way insults anyone, especially the Egyptian society. She added that during its first season, when it was aired during the recent month of Ramadan, it witnessed tremendous success.
Mais noted that the theme of the show is unique and was not presented in the past and is more like a standup comedy show, which calls for exaggeration of different topics to create an atmosphere of humor.
