Prominent Egyptian folk singer Hassan Al Asmar has passed away after having a sudden heart attack. The singer was immediately taken to hospital after having the heart attack and passed away at a hospital in Cairo.

Hassan was born in 1959 in the Al Abassiyah neighborhood in Cairo. He achieved his fame in the eighties and was considered one of Egypt’s most popular folk singers. Hassan also took part in a number of films, plays, and television dramas.

Hassan’s last public appearance was through a commercial for an Egyptian cellular company , that had marked his return to the scenes after a prolonged absence.
