Mina Shalabi justifies absence from protests
Egyptian actress Mina Shalabi has justified her absence from the recent mass protests against Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak that began on 25 January and ended on February 11 with the stepping down of Mubarak, by stating that she was out of the country on a medical trip with her father. Mina said that she accompanied her father to Paris where he had an open heart surgery.
Mina stressed that during her stay in France, she was following up with the events of the revolution of the people by minute by getting updates from her mother resigned artist Zizi Mustafa, who was in Egypt. The actress said that she had shed tears of joy and honor at the people in the streets that were determined to overthrow Mubarak and his regime. Mina also felt very proud when French people began congratulating her at the success of the revolution.
The actress said that upon her return to Egypt that she will do whatever she can to present something to those that took part in the protests.
On a different note, Mina will continue filming the scenes of her new film “Beebo and Basheer” with actors Asir Yaseen and Izzat Abu Ouf. The film will be directed by Mariam Abu Ouf.
