New pro-Trump Twitter account tweets in Hebrew
Trump is not the most popular figure in the Middle East with his talk of banning Muslims from the US and linking refugees to attacks in Europe. But in the predominantly Jewish state of Israel, The Republican party is now recruiting Americans who reside in the country to vote Trump. And on Monday, a new pro-Trump Twitter account in Hebrew started in an effort to win the hearts and minds of American-Israelis.
The Jewish Telegraph Agency appears to be the first outlet to bring the account’s attention to the English-speaking world. @USAISRAEL2016 launched Monday, and claims to be an official account of the Trump campaign.
So what did the account tweet on its third day in its existence? Why, criticize Hillary of course! The most recent tweet is a quote by Hillary Clinton calling for a Palestinian state and equating settlement construction to rocket attacks launched at Israel, and is meant to paint her as pro-Palestinian and bad for Israel.
Another tweet from today showed a man holding up a campaign sign in Hebrew reading “Make America Great Again,” Trump’s slogan.
It’s been a slow start to the Hebrew campaign, though. The tweets are only receiving a handful of retweets and likes, at least so far.
Over 300,000 US citizens live in Israel.
