Twitter points fingers, cracks jokes as Syria ceasefire collapses
The Syrian army declared the US-Russia brokered ceasefire over yesterday. In a perhaps fitting ending, the regime is pounding Aleppo and the US accidentally bombed the Syrian army in Deir Ezzor where it’s fighting Daesh (ISIS), among other flare ups. As always, seemingly everyone on Twitter has an opinion on what went down with the latest ceasefire.
Both the US and Russia are being blamed on Twitter for destroying the ceasefire they not so long ago put together.
On Saturday, the US-led anti-Daesh coalition bombed the Syrian army in Deir Ezzor in what they said was an accident. As for Russia, the US is accusing them of being responsible for the airstrikes that hit a UN aid convoy bound for Aleppo last night.
The regime and rebel groups have been blamed by their respective opponents as well.
Despite the disappointing news for those hoping for an end to the devastating conflict, some made jokes on Twitter as the ceasefire collapsed.

The above meme depicts Russian president Vladimir Putin, US president Barack Obama, Assad and others as members of the American show “Jackass.” On this show, Johnny Knoxville and his band of stunt men wreak havoc as they race shopping carts, vault themselves into alligator-infested water and perform other ridiculous stunts.
Others quipped the world shouldn’t be surprised by the ceasefire’s demise.
Representatives of the US and Russia are to meet in New York today to assess the ceasefire.
