On May 3, 1976, the first Lufthansa flight touched down at Dubai International Airport, linking the Emirati city with Lufthansa's impressive global route network. Today, Lufthansa serves the United Arab Emirates 21 times a week, with daily services from Frankfurt and Munich to Dubai and a daily flight connecting Frankfurt and Abu Dhabi.

There is also a steadily growing demand from UAE residents traveling to Europe and to over 20 Lufthansa destinations in the USA and Canada,” he added.

On May 2, 2011, and for the second straight year, Lufthansa was named “best European airline serving the Middle East” in the Business Traveller Middle East Awards. Recently, readers of the Business Traveller Deutschland magazine ranked Lufthansa in top place in two categories in 2010.
