I have very mixed emotions reading this article. First is much sadness for the further loss of lives at the hands of Assad. Is this a final showdown on his way out? As far as I'm concerned, he couldn't leave soon enough. What I feel though is anger that legal immunity would mean he couldn't be held accountable for the war crimes he committed against the citizens of Syria nor the priceless damage done to buildings of antiquity and homes that while they can be rebuilt, the historical value on the buildings and churches can never be regained. Lastly, I'm surprised that there would be any country at this point in time that would even want to give Assad political asylum? Mr. Assad, you can run, but you can't hide forever. The stench of your sins is smelled the world over. You will always have a price on your head if not in this life, then when judgment day comes, and believe me, it comes to each of us. For what you sow in this world you also reap.
