Arsenal set to hold 'serious talks' with Man U over Van Persie

Arsenal has given up their efforts to convince captain Robin Van Persie to stay at the club, and are ready to do serious talks with Manchester United over a possible deal.
United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is hoping to seal a 22 million pounds move before the weekend's Premier League opener, The Sun reports.
United and Italian giants Juventus have yet to improve offers of 15 million pounds, but Van Persie was jeered by his own fans in Sunday's win over Cologne in Germany, and is now desperate for a move to be completed.
Arsenal was demanding 25 million pounds for the Dutch striker, who has just one year left on his contract, but the club will now settle for less rather than have a player on their books who does not want to be there and could become a hate figure for the fans. (ANI)
