Demonstrations spread to new Tunisian cities
Strikes to protest unemployment on Monday spread to other Tunisian cities. The protest were called in solidarity with the people of Sidi Bouzid after the killing of one protestor there over the weekend. The peaceful demonstrations were held in Kairouan and Sfax.
Activists have been networking with each other over Internet social networks like Facebook and Twitter to expand the strike to cover more cities. The capital of Tunisia has witnessed a demonstration Saturday in which hundreds of Tunisians protested against unemployment, and expressed their solidarity with the inhabitants of Sidi Bouzid.
Participants in these demonstrations chanted slogans against the high living costs and rampant unemployment, which limits job opportunities mainly for university graduates.
