After Liverpool's complete unraveling on Monday night, Manchester City have been handed every advantage over the last two weeks to make the 2013-14 English Premier League title their own.
However, nothing is certain in football, and Liverpool's frustrations can serve as a warning to all big sides that any mid-table club can have their day if you give them a sniff at opportunity and fail to do your job.
Manchester City have players that have been there and won that and should not have an issue of getting a professional victory at home.
But, Paul Lambert will be looking for another major scalp before the end of the campaign as he is looking to maintain his job at Villa and keep the fans support. Having taken points from both Arsenal and Chelsea this season the club will be confident they can make something happen at the Etihad.
Sergio Aguero once again is out for City, but in most recent weeks the club have truly looked stronger without him as the form of Edin Dzeko ahead of his World Cup trip with Bosnia is showing why he was brought to the club in the first place.
Lambert will hope to have Gabriel Agbonlahor back as he will be once again without Christian Benteke, but as long as Andreas Weimann is healthy they have a chance as the 22-year-old Austrian was hitting his stride last week and could still be on form.
City XI: Hart; Zabaleta, Kompany, Demichelis, Kolarov; Fernandinho, Toure; Milner, Silva, Nasri; Dzeko.
Villa XI: Guzan; Lowton, Vlaar, Baker, Clark; Albrighton, Westwood, Delph, Bertrand; Weimann, Bowery.
