A Frenchman was killed Monday and another wounded by gunmen in Sana’a Monday, AFP reports.
The attack happened in the diplomatic district only a few hundred meters from the French Embassy.
Gunmen fired on the Frenchman’s car without a known motive, according to AFP. The Yemeni driver was also wounded in the attack.
An increasing number of attacks against foreign diplomats have been carried out in recent months. Last October, a German embassy security guard was killed while attempting to resist being kidnapped. Additionally, one German and two Britons were kidnapped earlier this year, AFP reports.
Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, the deadliest branch of al Qaeda that calls Yemen home, has been linked to a number of attacks against diplomats.
