John Stadwick, President GM Middle East, hands over the keys to Soren Kjeldsen as winner of the all-new 2011 Cadillac CTS Coupe
Martin Kaymer, who took the lead from Day 2, wins the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship for the third time, followed by Rory McIlroy in second place and Graeme McDowell and Retief Goosen tied for third.
As a key highlight of the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship, Soren Kjeldsen is also the winner of the all-new 2011 Cadillac CTS Coupe, securing a hole-in-one on the 7th hole. The Danish player, and three time winner at the European Tour event, began the tournament on a positive note having won the car on the first morning. The keys to the CTS Coupe were presented to Kjeldsen today by John Stadwick, President of General Motors Middle East.
As the official transport vehicle of the event, Cadillac offered 55 vehicles to transport many of the world’s best golfers to and from the golf club, including World Number 1 Lee Westwood, and all four Major winners from 2010 - Phil Mickelson, Louis Oosthuizen, Graeme McDowell and Martin Kaymer. Visitors to the tournament were also able to view the latest 2011 Cadillac vehicles, set to be on display through out the venue.
The sponsorship is in line with Cadillac’s multi-year global agreement signed by the PGA TOUR, on behalf of the International Federation of PGA Tours, whereby Cadillac becomes title sponsor of the World Golf Championships-Cadillac Championship, and an umbrella sponsor of the World Golf Championships.
“The Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship is a reflection of the highest quality standard, in line with the Cadillac brand. It has become one of the most anticipated sporting events in the region and abroad, with this year being the championship’s strongest player lineup, and we are happy to be a part of it,” said John Stadwick, President of General Motors Middle East. “Presenting the tournament’s participants with the opportunity to win an all-new 2011 Cadillac CTS Coupe added more excitement to the event. We look forward to how we can further expand upon this partnership in the future.”
Hosted by the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority (ADTA), the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship is one of the biggest events on the PGA European Tour, regularly attracting some of golf’s most famous names, including winners Chris DiMarco, Paul Casey, and Rory McIlroy. The 6th edition of the championship featured 126 players, including all four major winners from the 2010 calendar year.
