‘Sanaa Ripper’ Condemned to Death for Murder of Two Students
A Yemeni court on Sunday condemned to death a Sudanese morgue attendant for the murder of two female students at Sanaa University, an AFP correspondent reported.
Mohammad Adam, branded the "Sanaa Ripper" in the press, was found guilty of the kidnapping, rape and murder of Hosn Ahmad Attiya from Yemen and Iraqi student Zeinab Saud Aziz, both butchered at the university's morgue.
The 53-year-old Sudanese initially confessed to the rape and murder of 16 young women, including eight university students, but retracted most of his confession June 3 after one of the alleged victims showed up in the Sanaa courtroom.
His trial opened on May 27.
German forensic experts were brought in to determine the exact number of victims from body parts found at the university morgue and identified 18 corpses -- SANAA (AFP)
