The strong interest in the conference reflects the booming telecoms market in Saudi Arabia. Informa Telecoms and Media forecasts mobile market growth from 43,053,200 in March 2010 to 71,824,700 by the end of 2014. In addition the penetration rate is forecast to reach a massive 229% by December 2014.
The growth is driven by innovation in services and technology, with STC, Mobily and Zain KSA all demonstrating their commitment to LTE in the form of trials and deployments. The focussed LTE workshop during the final session of the first day of SaudiCom will detail the architecture and operation of the 4th generation wireless network technology. The workshop will outline what LTE can do, and assess the challenges and potential for LTE in Saudi Arabia.
