7,612,000 students for new academic year in Algeria
7,612,000 students in the northern wilayas of Algeria started the academic year 2005-2006 at all school levels on Saturday September 10. According to an official statement by the Ministry of Education, in the new academic year there are 340,000 teachers and 153,000 administrative workers in 22,783 schools. With the new schools established, the number of primary schools reached to 17,307 and the number of secondary colleges to 3,981 in the country. El Moudjahid reports that for the wilayas in the southern part of the country the school year will start on September 17.
