Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council Achieves ISO 27001 Certification for IT department
Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council (UPC), the agency responsible for the future of Abu Dhabi Emirate's urban environment has received ISO 27001:2005 quality certification for its information technology department.
On its way to become Abu Dhabi Government's first entity to attain this recognition UPC faired exceptionally well in every stage of the 12-month certification process.
ISO 27001 is the latest international standard developed exclusively for Information Security Management Systems (ISMS), requiring organizations to employ a methodical approach to manage sensitive information and ensuring data security
"This achievement is a fitting reward for UPC's ongoing efforts to follow international best practices in line with superior industry standards and corporate excellence, particularly the ones concerning the security of client information, which is paramount to us," said H.E Falah Al Ahbabi, General Manager Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council.
UPC has been relentlessly working to implement the ISO 27001 for a year, and in this quest has established a team of core employees to ensure the pinnacles of information security are developed and maintained to better manage the certification.
Abdulla Al Sahi, Director Corporate Services, Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council added, " This is a momentous milestone for UPC, and we expect our stakeholders including Abu Dhabi Government, developers, commercial organizations operating in Abu Dhabi and Citizens, to acknowledge this achievement as a further testament to our corporate governance and security protocols ".
