New Egyptian militant group 'Ajnad Misr' claims responsibility for Cairo bombings
A newly-formed militant group has claimed it was responsible for a bomb attack targeting a police checkpoint in Cairo’s twin city of Giza that injured six.
“Soldiers reached the heart of the criminal apparatus ... to send a message to them that they are not safe from retribution,” said a statement purporting to be from Ajnad Misr (Egypt’s Soldiers) posted late Friday on an al-Qaeda-affiliated website.
The statement added that the group would continue its attacks on policemen and called for them to repent and switch sides.
The authenticity of the statement could not be verified.
Last week, the group made its first statement, claiming responsibility for several similar bomb attacks.
