Al-Azraq to Crush Bhutan
The Kuwaiti football team today hopes to drastically improve its goal difference following its upcoming home game against the weaker Bhutan.
The team recently took a giant step forward in reaching this goal after it thrashed Turkmenistan 6-1. They will try to continue this trend this afternoon when it plays Bhutan in Group 5's third game of the Asian Nations Cup qualifications, al-Watan daily reports. Kuwait is currently the group leader.
The other group teams include Yemen and Nepal. In previous matches, Turkmenistan defeated Yemen 1-0 and Bhutan was beaten 0-2 by Nepal.
According to the newspaper, the Kuwaiti football team, dubbed Al-Azraq (the Blues), must keep pressure on the goal if it hopes to score a record number of goals. It is also important that the Kuwaiti stars avoid injuries. In games against teams with low technical skills, such as Bhutan, the players are more exposed to injuries. Thus, the Kuwaitis will most likely play in a "one touch" style to get to Bhutan's goal.
Previous matches suggest that Al-Azraq Czech coach, Dushan Uhrin, concentrates on the offensive style. Dushan said he would give more freedom to midfielders, Abdullah Wabran and Bader Haji, and to skippers, Isam Sakin and Ahmed al-Muteiri, to penetrate deep into their opponents territory.
Kick off is scheduled for 16:45. The second match between Turkmenistan and Nepal will likely determine the winner of the second spot in the group.
