"No doubt, the Syrian issue is the main topic today. It not only concerns Lebanon but regional and international countries; that's why this issue will be discussed during the meetings [in Kuwait]," Mansuor said at Beirut airport before leaving to Kuwait to participate in preparations for the summit.
Mansour, however, said the third Arab-African summit – to be held in Kuwaiti city on Nov. 19 and Nov. 20 – would focus on partnership between Arab and African countries.
“This summit will support mutual ties between Arab states on the one hand and countries of the African continent on the other,” Mansour told reporters at the airport.
He said the conference, which will discuss economic, political and cultural issues – “will lay the foundations for future work between the participating countries.”
Mansour said a meeting at the foreign ministers level would be held in the Kuwaiti capital on Nov. 16. ahead of the summit that will be attended by heads of state of Arab and African countries.
President Michel Sleiman will head Lebanon’s delegation to the summit.
