Bahrain’s BAPCO Opens New Gas Unit
A new wet gas compressor will open Monday at the Bahrain Petroleum Company (BAPCO)’s refinery, reported the Gulf Daily News.
The $19.5 million (BD7.3 million) wet gas compressor is part of the refinery’s fluid catalyst process, according to BAPCO chief executive, Johann Lubbe.
Lubbe said the unit was commissioned in late May as part of BAPCO’s $900 million (BD340 million) overall expansion and modernization plan.
The facility is a prelude to BAPCO’s proposed new $660 million (BD249 million) hydrocracker unit and current facility upgrade.
Lubbe said the new hydrocracker would have a production capacity of 40,000 barrels per day and that it would be built adjacent to the current facility.
The refinery’s existing hydrocracker currently produces around 45,000 barrels per day – Albawaba.com
