Bahrain Eases Visa Rules for Citizens of Industrialized Nations
Bahrain has eased entry formalities for citizens of 33 nations with developed economies, Interior Ministry Undersecretary for Immigration and Passports Sheikh Rashid bin Khalifa Al Khalifa announced Wednesday.
He said they could be immediately issued two-week visas at different entry points, reported the Gulf Daily News.
The aim is to boost tourism and investment in Bahrain, he told a press conference.
The official, meanwhile, said extensions to the main immigration and passports premises would be finished by the end of this year. There are also plans to build a new administrative headquarters in Hamad Town, he added.
Sheikh Rashid said Bahrain would continue to grant permanent residence to people who qualified for it.
He said all countries, including those suffering from overpopulation like India and China, had naturalization laws.
There are also plans to make all immigration and passport services and residence permits for companies and banks available on the internet, he said – Albawaba.com
