Bahrainis Protest Against Israel Outside US Embassy
Around 2,000 Bahrainis shouted anti-Israeli and anti-US slogans during a demonstration in front of the US embassy after Friday prayers in the mosques, residents said.
"Down with the United States, down with Israel and Zionism!" the protesters chanted before the demonstration was dispersed by anti-riot police, they said.
Arrests were made during the nearly two-hour demonstration, one resident said, asking not to be named. There were no reports of injuries or major incidents with the police.
"Dozens of trucks from the anti-riot brigade, ambulances and police officers looped around the neighborhood of the embassy," which is protected by cement blocks, a double wall and security cameras, another resident said.
It was the first protest in front of the US embassy in Bahrain, which is home to the US Fifth Fleet, since Israeli-Palestinian clashes erupted in late September, according to residents -- MANAMA (AFP)
