UN Chief urges more action on Syria after day of Lebanese border raids
UN chief Ban Ki-moon called for more humanitarian action in Syria late Tuesday after a day of renewed violence on the Syrian-Lebanese border, according to AFP sources. Ban Ki-moon called on all parties to work towards a political solution in his statement.
The UN leader's comments follow renewed violence on the Syrian-Lebanese border.
AFP reported Tuesday that Syrian forces conducted a cross-border raid late Monday targeting eastern Lebanon. Five rockets were launched in the Arsal region of Lebanon. No injuries were reported. This is not the first time that this area has been affected by cross-broder violence.
The Arsal region is predominantly home to Sunnis and is a major route used to smuggle goods and other items into Syria.
