Barak Announces Freeze on Transfer of Funds To Palestinians
Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak announced on military radio Thursday that Israel had frozen transfers of funds due to the Palestinian authority "in the past few days" and until further notice.
"The money that was to have been transferred to the Palestinian authority under the agreements concluded has not been for a few days and that will continue for as long as necessary," Barak said without going into detail.
Under the economic accords, especially those reached in Paris in 1995, Israel pledged to return to the Palestinian authority customs duties and value added tax raised from products passing through Israeli territory on their way to the West Bank and the Gaza Strip – JERUSALEM (AFP)
