Barbara Bush Agency Grants 14 Million Dollars Medical Aid to Lebanon
Medicares, a charity organization headed by former US first lady Barbara Bush, has granted medical aid worth 14 million dollars to Lebanon, the national news agency ANI said Tuesday.
Medicares Director General Andrew Hanna and Lebanon's Tourist Minister Karam Karam, announced the grant in a meeting earlier Tuesday with Lebanese President Emile Lahoud, the agency said.
Hanna said a plane was sent to deliver 30 tons of medical aid, worth 14 million dollars, "offered to the Lebanese people across all Lebanese regions," the agency reported.
Medicares is chaired by the wife of former US president George Bush, Barbara, and grants a similar assistance to a country of its choice every year, the agency said -- BEIRUT (AFP)
