AFP reports that eight people were killed in a bomb blast in Hijaz Square in Central Damascus. In addition, a further 50 were wounded.
“Eight citizens including two women were killed in an explosion caused by a bomb placed by terrorists at the entrance to the Hijaz railroad company,” according to AFP.
Several train station maintenance workers were among the wounded.
In recent months, Damascus has been hit by a number of blasts, mostly from mortar shells. The Assad regime blames the rebel forces for the attacks.
