Al-Bayan radio, which broadcasts inside Daesh territory in Iraq, Syria and Libya, says the attack in Orlando, Florida, was carried out by a "soldier of the caliphate."
"God helped Omar Mateen" carry out an attack against "crusaders," says the morning broadcast on what is seen as the sanctioned station of the extremist group. Daesh strictly controls access to information in its territories.
"This is biggest foray, in terms of the number of dead, after Manhattan 16 years ago," the unnamed news reader says, referring to the attacks of September 11, 2001, which were carried out by al-Qaeda.
Daesh formally split from al-Qaeda in 2014 but still heaps praise on al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, who was killed in 2011 by US forces.
