Al-Masry Al-Youm reports that the body of missing Italian PhD student Giulio Regina was found in the Giza desert.
His body was found on the side of the road between Cairo and Alexandria. The highway linking the two cities is known to be poorly lit and abandoned at night.
Regina was last seen January 25 in Cairo. He was a visiting scholar from Cambridge University and had studied Arabic for years. Both Italy and Cambridge are investigating the death.
Egyptian authorities are conducting a full autopsy report. There are signs that his body underwent torture and assault, according to a report from euronews.
No group has claimed responsibility for the murder. Authorities are not releasing leads or speculation to the public at this time.
