British Exports to Bahrain Increase Seven Percent
Bahrain-British bilateral trade has witnessed a significant growth during 2000, as British exports to Bahrain registered an increase of seven percent, British Ambassador to Manama, Peter Ford, told the Bahrain Tribune.
Bahrain’s economy has very good prospects of growth in 2001, which is an encouraging sign for both British and Bahraini companies to further enhance their trade relations, Ford said.
“The British exports to Bahrain reached £120 million in 2000, excluding the services sector,” he said.
The Bahraini exports to the UK registered a 20 percent increase as the exports reached £100 million during the year,” Ford said.
The ambassador added that there would be a “construction-led boom” in Bahrain, including the development of infrastructure for the tourism industry, according to the Tribune.
“It would be another opening for British companies to establish their businesses in Bahrain. Similarly, the British companies, which participated in the Middle East Oil Show 2001 have received a very good response.” – Albawaba.com
