BT announced today it has won the prestigious Telecoms World Middle East award in the category Best International Wholesale Carrier. The award recognises BT's strength and commitment to the markets worldwide, according to the organisers.
BT works with more than 680 carriers across all continents and provides network services and solutions to more than 1,000 communications providers inside the UK. Customers include players from across the communications industry, from fixed-line operators and internet service providers to mobile network operators.
Stephen Kelly, head of BT Global Telecom Markets, Europe, the Middle East and Africa, said: "We are very proud of this recognition of our global reach and focus on our telco customers. As one of the very first telecommunications operators in the world, BT today remains committed to bringing the benefits of connectivity to virtually every part of the world."
The Telecoms World Awards Middle East event, running for the fourth year, is organized by a business media and events agency Terrapinn.
Matthew Wallhead, general manager, Terrapinn Middle East, said: "This achievement is particularly impressive given that BT was competing against the very best carriers from every continent. The award highlights BT's commitment to international markets and just how strong its international wholesale business is."
