Car bomb targeting Eid Al-Adha shoppers kills twelve in Iraq
The blast killed twelve people. A policeman and a doctor were among the victims. In addition, thirteen people were also wounded in the attack.
The blast occurred as the street was filled with people shopping before the Eid al-Adha holiday.
Over 4,600 people have been killed in Iraq since April 2013. The intense violence has sparked fears of a civil war. Sunni-Shia violence in Iraq peaked during the US occupation in 2006 - 2007. In that time frame, more than ten thousand people were killed in sectarian violence.
