CDA conducts special needs training programmes for teachers in cooperation with KHDA
Community Development Authority (CDA) in Dubai, in co-operation with Dubai Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), organized a series of training sessions for 70 teachers from different schools. This initiative was in line with CDA’s efforts to promote awareness about children with disabilities, including developmental and communication difficulties and disabilities.
Titled “Interaction between teachers and students inside the classroom”, the training sessions were supervised by the Dubai Early Childhood Development Centre (DECDC), one of CDA’s initiatives under the leadership of Dr Bushra Al Mulla, Director of DECDC, and a number of specialists.
The sessions addressed several topics including children’s development, disability types and signs, the principles of early intervention, integration methods, ways to modify the curriculum, the behavior of children and other practical aspects.
“CDA supports efforts to achieve social integration for people with disabilities in society. By partnering with private and public schools for the training programme, we are working to ensure more access for children to better education through curriculum development that meets their needs,” said Sheikh Maktoum Butti Al Maktoum, CEO – Social Care at CDA.
Dr Bushra Al Mulla said: “DECDC translates CDA’s objectives of maintaining the rights of all members of society. We work towards integrating children with disabilities in a safe healthy learning environment. The co-operation with KHDA further helps us to establish partnerships that elevate the services the provided to students,” added Dr Al Mulla.
The participants said DECDC’s efforts will play a transformational role in further facilitating the process of integrating children with disabilities in the society.
