Creations 2010 exudes fashion flamboyance on day three
High fashion flamboyance was the unmistakable theme of day three in Creations 2010, the premier fashion event of the Dubai Shopping Festival 15th edition. On showcase in the runways of the Fashion Atrium of Dubai Mall were the latest collections of fashion divas Nili Zahar and Rocky Gathercole as well as fast-rising fashion icons Haute Couture Pink by Shafaq & Ayesha.
Held under the patronage of Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, wife of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, Creations 2010 been mesmerizing audiences with an impressive showcase of stylish and glamorous collections from leading international and local designers as well as fashion upstarts.
Nili Zahar showed why she has become a fashion icon in the Arab world with a tantalising collection that featured bold and avant garde designs, utilizing both bright colours – from classic gold to aquamarine blue – and the more subdued elegance of black. The styles were an eclectic mix of stylish evening gowns to fun and flashy minis.
From one flamboyant designer to another, Creations 2010 showcased the work of local fashion dive Rocky Gathercole, whose impressive collection included stylish gowns in bright and eccentric colours. The beadwork was superb as usual, and the flower accents typical of the fun and creativity for which Rocky is known.
Haute Couture Pinky by Shafaq and Ayesha unleashed a dramatic collection of abayas and custom-made dresses that bordered on funky and fashionable.
‘Creations’ was conceived as a showcase for talented amateur fashion designers from the UAE and the region to showcase their work in Dubai alongside international fashion designers from around the world.
International designers/labels this year included Marco Marcu, Rohit Verma, Nili Zahar, and Fahad Hussayn. Participating established designers/labels from the UAE included Sa Soie by Noha Karam, Amber Feroz, Rocky Gathercole, and Amato Couture. Aspiring designers/labels featured this year are Arabella by Irene Traikova, Asma Rafiq, Haute Pink Couture by Shafaq and Ayesha, and Preston University Ajman.
A total of 16 international models – including Miss India 2005 and Bollywood actress Sayali Bhagat, Miss India 2008 Tanvi Vyas, Miss International 2nd runner-up Ana Ostorjic, and Miss Earth England 2008 Holly Ikin, among other noted models – have provided an entertaining and mesmerizing fashion spectacle at the at the Fashion Atrium of Dubai Mall.
