Following a historic world win by The Wave, Muscat catamaran at the finale of the Extreme 40's Sailing Series in Spain last month, Dar Al Atta'a Association has celebrated the win with a beneficiary grant as the winning boat's nominated charity at the beginning of the 2010 series.

Senior Management representatives from The Wave, Muscat and Oman Sail, as well as Omani bowman Khamis Al Anbouri presented the 5,000 Euro cheque to Maryam Al Zadjali, President of Dar Al Atta'a during a ceremony that was held at the Association's Head Quarters in Madinat Al Sultan Qaboos.

Michael Lenarduzzi, CEO of The Wave, Muscat said, "By supporting one of the Sultanate's most prominent and resourceful voluntary organizations, The Wave, Muscat is enhancing corporate cooperation through our sponsorship activities with Oman Sail. Dar Al Atta'a's vital work throughout Muscat helps build new bridges between the business world and the community and plays an important partnership role in reinforcing our values of social responsibility that are ingrained in our business practices."

He added, "Over the years, our affiliation with Oman Sail has also grown from strength to strength, as our joint efforts and unified vision to tell the world about Oman and its rich tourism assets and maritime history have enabled us to play a shared role in positioning the nation as a prime tourist destination and share the unrivalled opportunities Oman has to offer."

David Graham, CEO of Oman Sail added, "Our strategic partnership with The Wave, Muscat has supported our primary objective of training Omani youth and growing our capacities as we make sailing easily accessible to people from all walks of life. Our recent victory in Spain underscores the success of these efforts. As an Omani establishment with a mandate to promote sailing on the national level, we find it essential to give back to local communities to improve quality of life through this humble gesture."

Oman Sail has already established its Head Quarters at The Wave, Muscat, and will soon be developed further to become home to a specialized Sailing Training Academy, in addition to a dedicated Water Sports Center and a number of Dry Storage Facilities for small boat owners.
