Fourteen people have been killed and more than 900 injured since clashes flared between supporters and opponents of President Mohamed Morsi early Sunday, according to the latest data from the Ministry of Health and other medical sources.
Tensions are hiking as opposition groups demand early presidential elections while Morsi's Islamist supporters rally in support of his legitimacy as Egypt's elected president.
Cairo has seen the largest number of deaths with five killed during attacks on the Muslim Brotherhood's headquarters in Moqattam, south-east of the capital. Around 80 people were wounded in the clashes, as opposition protesters were reported as throwing Molotov cocktails at the building.
People defending the Brotherhood compound reportedly responded with cartouche fire.
However a security source meanwhile told state-run news agency MENA that the death toll outside Brotherhood HQ stood at eight. The source said one police officer from Basatin police station sustained gunshot injuries to the chest and the face, and was taken to hospital for treatment.
In Assiut, four people were killed and 15 others injured on Sunday close to the Freedom and Justice Party's offices.
One protester was killed in each of Alexandria, Kafr al-Sheikh, Gharbiya, Fayoum and Beni Suef. At least 457 were injured in these governorates.
Violence elsewhere saw 312 people injured in Beheira, 15 in Monufiya, seven in Damietta, five in Aswan, three in Daqahlia and 15 in President Morsi's home governorate, Sharqiya.
