Dubai to Establish First Arab Civil Defense Academy
An Arab academy for fire-fighting, rescue and first aid will be set up in Dubai, reported the Gulf News Wednesday.
The institute will be the first of its kind in the Arab world, said the paper, adding that there are only three academies in US, Canada, and Scandinavia.
Director of the Dubai Civil Defense Department, Ali Al Sayed, said the department would invite construction bids next week.
The academy will accept holders of secondary school certificates as well as all ranks of civil defense staff.
"It is planned to enroll 5,000 students in the first phase which will be for UAE residents. Then more will be admitted when it is opened to anyone worldwide," he said – Albawaba.com
