Dubai Silicon Oasis concludes a successful visit to ICT Forum in Jordan
Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO), the integrated free zone technology park, today announced a top level delegation from Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority has successfully concluded its visit to the sixth Middle East and North Africa Information and Communications Technology Forum (MENA ICT Forum) in Jordan, Amman. Held under the royal patronage of His Majesty King Abdullah II from 10-11 October, the MENA ICT Forum is considered as one of the region's foremost Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and Information and Communications Technology Enabled Services (ICTES) industry events
Led by Dr. Mohammed Al Zarooni, Vice-Chairman and CEO of Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority, the delegation officials met with His Excellency Marwan Juma, Minister of Information and Communications Technology in Jordan. During the meeting Dr. Zarooni briefed . Marwan Juma on DSO's latest achievements and discussed possible collaborations in the technology industry which will benefit the whole region.
Dr. Al Zarooni said: "Dubai is widely recognised as the Middle East's ICT hub and the sector has shown rapid development over the past few years. Since its launch, Dubai Silicon Oasis has consistently preserved a steady growth. The meetings we held at Jordan with key officials, organisations and entities provide a promising outlook for future co-operations and prospective ties that will have a positive impact on the ICT sector in Jordan and Dubai through the exchange of expertise and knowledge."
During the visit, Dr. Al Zarooni and the delegation also met with Ziad Ayoub, CEO of Jtronics and explored areas of collaboration with DSO and its 100 per cent owned design center; Dubai Circuit Design (DCD).
In a meeting with Dr. Usama Fayyad, Executive Chairman of Oasis 500, the DSO delegation reviewed the prospect of a future relationship between Jordan and Dubai in the areas of entrepreneurship and incubators.
With education being a key component of DSO's Hi-Tech Ecosystem, the delegation also visited several universities in Jordan to examine the possibility of future alliances.
Dubai Silicon Oasis is a wholly-owned entity of the Government of Dubai and operates as a free zone for semiconductor, microelectronic and other high technology-based companies looking to set up their regional headquarters and research and development (R&D) facilities in the Middle East and Africa region.
