E-Commerce Think-Tank Launched in Bahrain
A think-tank charged with launching Bahrain as a major e-commerce center in the region has been set up, reported the Gulf Daily news agency Monday.
Prime Minister, Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman al-Khalifa yesterday issued an edict forming the new committee, said the agency.
It will be chaired by Crown Prince, Shaikh Salman bin Hamad al-Khalifa, transportation minister, Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa al-Khalifa, cabinet affairs and information minister, Mohammed al Mutawa and other officials.
The committee may also ask other specialists and experts for opinions, said the agency.
The new institute will be tasked with establishing rules and regulations for organizing electronic trade in the country.
Among other tasks, the agency said, are preparing legislative tools in the field of electronic trade, and amending established laws.
Determining appropriate methods to attract international technology firms and proposing the facilities and benefits that can be provided to companies working in the field of technology, which would contribute to making Bahrain a distinguished regional center in this domain, are among the tasks also.
