Educational Export of UAS Krems: Austrian Courses of Study are Initiated in Oman
The first Arab-European university model in the Middle East, the structural and academic installation of which IMC UAS Krems was an essential part, was initiated on 6th November 2010 after a lead time of approximately one year and a half. The ceremonial opening took place with 500 Arab and European partners attending. The University of Buraimi in the north of Oman is the biggest educational export of Austria amounting to a total capacity of EU 40m. Under the consortium, management of IMC University of Applied Sciences Krems, the University of Vienna, the Vienna University of Technology, the University of Applied Sciences Campus Wien and the University of Bradford took part in the development of the University of Buraimi.
A few days ago the courses of study officially started with almost 400 students. As of 2011 two Bachelor degree programmes modeled on the programmes in Krems will be offered: "Business Administration and E-Business Management" and "Export-Oriented Management". At the completed expansion stage about 10,000 students are expected to be accommodated to read engineering, health and business sciences.
The Vice-Chancellor is the Austrian Management expert Johann Günther. "The top priority is to establish an international university as a role model, in which the European world and the Arab world have an equal share," says Günther. In this educational transfer the President of the IMC UAS Krems Heinz Boyer and the Head of the International Department Karl Ennsfellner see the consistent international orientation of the UAS Krems.
The IMC UAS Krems is situated in Austria's Wachau Cultural Landscape in Lower Austria, which is regarded as a UNESCO heritage site. With its 90 partner universities, students from over 50 countries around the world and close links with the business world and industry, the UAS Krems counts among the best interconnected universities in Europe.
