Egypt’s Film Industry Fights Back
Egypt has decided to focus on improving its film industry by encouraging support, promotion and production, reported ‘Al Jumhuria’ daily newspaper.
Egypt’s Minister of Culture Faruq Husni has decided to form a special committee headed by the minister’s deputy Mohammad Ghneim, in order to look into the problems the industry is facing, said the Egyptian daily.
Ghneim’s job will be to implement a previously established working paper which designated the necessary changes for improving the industry.
The paper calls for the promotion of Egyptian films in foreign countries, promoting the funding of such Egyptian produced films, and encouraging the private sector of the industry to participate more aggressively in the field.
According to Ghneim, the committee will meet later this week in order to commence work on the new project.
The committee is mainly comprised of people who are specialists in the field, including some well-known actors such as Nour El Sharif and some legal advisors – Albawaba.com.
