Egypt foils attempt to smuggle weapons to Palestinians
An Egyptian police patrol has foiled an attempt to smuggle weapons and ammunition across the border to Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, a source close to the border guards said on Thursday.
The patrol seized an automatic rifle, 6,604 rounds of automatic ammunition and 950 pistol rounds abandoned by the smugglers as they escaped after being spotted near the divided border town of Rafah.
The source added the seizure took place earlier in the week, but did not say exactly when. (Albawaba.com)
