Egypt unrest spreads as five soldiers killed in Suez attack and Sinai car bomb kills two
Masked assailants fired at the patrol from a private car, according to Ismailia's security director.
The attack took place north of the city, where suspected militants have repeatedly targeted security forces in recent weeks, the officials said.
On Friday, two army conscripts were killed, and one conscript and an officer injured in a drive-by shooting targeting a military armed personnel carrier on the Cairo-Ismailia highway.
Also on Monday, a car bomb hit security headquarters in a southern Sinai town, Egyptian officials said, killing two people and injuring some 50 civilians, security and medical officials said, according to the BBC.
