Egyptian Man Dies when Hotel Balcony Collapses

An Egyptian man was killed when a 14th floor balcony of a hotel collapsed while he was walking on the street below searching for a job, police said in remarks published Sunday. 

Police quoted by the government newspapers Gomhuriya and Al-Akhbar said the man, an unemployed laborer who was looking for work, had his skull smashed on Saturday by falling stone. 

The hotel was identified by Gomhuriya newspaper as the Horus hotel in downtown Cairo. 

Dozens of Egyptians are killed every year when entire buildings collapse, most having already been declared unsafe. 

It was not immediately clear, however, whether this hotel itself was unsafe - CAIRO (AFP)
