Egyptian president not attending mass funeral for killed soldiers

Egyptian President Mohammad Morsi on Tuesday afternoon visited the injured soldiers from Sunday's attack on the Egyptian military border post near Rafah. The four injured, two of them from the armed forces and the other two from the police, are receiving treatment in a military hospital in Cairo.
He was greeted upon his arrival to the hospital by Field Marshal Hussein Tantawi, the Minister of Defense.
Morsi did not attend the military funeral for the 16 border guards who were killed in the attack near the Kerem Shalom crossing on the Egyptian-Israeli border.
The funeral was attended by Prime Minister Hisham Kandil who faced an anger crowd of mourners.

Israel has returned to Egypt the bodies of six attackers involved in the attack that killed the 16 Egyptian border guards. The bodies of the attackers were transferred by Israel to the Egyptian authorities last night. The Israeli army said in a statement that the road to the Kerem Shalom crossing, where the attackers infiltrated Sunday, was reopened this morning.
On Sunday, 35 gunmen opened fire on an army position in the Egyptian Sinai, killing 16 Egyptian border guards before entering Israeli territory with an armored military.
Initially, Israel had said five attackers were killed by its forces. But Israeli media said the sixth body was found in a pickup truck that exploded while trying to cross the border post.
Following the attack, Egypt has decided to close down "indefinitely" the Rafah crossing at its border with Gaza. The terminal is the only crossing point between the Palestinian territory, controlled by Hamas, and the outside world not to be controlled by Israel.

Egyptian President Mohammad Morsi , may of had desires to shape
the events in Egypt ?
but as usual , events will shape the man .
Morsi in his past , may have suffered at the hands
of Egyptian police and or it's military .
but now as president , Morsi must put those past
abuses behind him .
these 16 Egyptians died defending their country period !
and any leader , not just Morsi , should have honored
their sacrifice .
Morsi should have used this opportunity to unite ,
what is a very fractured Egypt .
he should have reminded all Egyptians ,
that they have opened the door to democracy .
and actions , like this deadly attack could
jeopardize all that they have gained , so far .
and he should have firmly emphasized ,
that no matter what the goal of the attackers was .
their attack was still an assault on the authority
of a democratic Egyptian government .
i believe he stated that his government
would not tolerate such violence .
but so early into his administration ,
Morsi does not seem prepared to
truly be a national leader .
but i think he has the ability ,
if he can find the courage .
