Emirati Businessman Jailed, Fined for Using Counterfeit Money
The Dubai Criminal Court of First Instance on Wednesday sentenced a 45-year-old UAE businessman to three years in prison and fined him Dh10,000 (about $2,700) for dealing in counterfeit, according to the Khaleej Times.
According to court documents, the businessman paid a taxi driver with a $100 note. When the driver tried to get the note exchanged for UAE dirhams, he was told the it was counterfeit.
Under interrogation, the accused admitted that the note was his and that he knew it was a fake - Albawaba.com
