Fire at Khartoum power plant kills five
Four workers and a firefighter were killed as an accidental fire destroyed a power plant in the Sudanese capital of Khartoum, police said Tuesday.
Nine workers were hospitalized for medical treatment, suffering from smoke inhalation and burns, they added.
The fire Monday in the Burre station of eastern Khartoum erupted during maintenance work, according to a police statement, cited by AFP. The destruction of the plant is expected to strain the national grid and add to power cuts throughout the capital. (Albawaba.com)
