Floods Kill Four in Turkey
Floods killed four people and inundated hundreds of homes and shops in Turkey's southeast, officials were quoted as saying by Turkish Daily News.
A woman and her daughter drowned late Thursday, when they were swept away by gushing waters while crossing a bridge over a rain-swollen stream near the town of Siverek in Sanliurfa province, said the paper.
It added that authorities found their bodies Friday, caught in bushes about a kilometer away.
A 75-year-old woman drowned while inspecting her field in the nearby village of Halfeti, said the paper, adding that in the neighboring province of Adiyaman, the roof of a tobacco storehouse collapsed Friday, crushing a middle-aged man.
Heavy rain flooded more than 150 homes and shops and damaged cars, tractors, telephone and power lines in Sanliurfa.
Some 300 livestock were killed and crops were severely damaged, the paper said – Albawaba.com
