The Israeli army on Friday said it had foiled an infiltration attempt from Egypt and killed three armed Islamists. Media reports said one Israeli was also killed.
According to a military spokesman, Lt. Col. Avital Leibovich, activists equipped with explosive belts opened fire on soldiers at the border between Israel and the Egyptian Sinai desert. The troops, who were watching a group of workers on a fence, returned fire and killed three militants, said the spokesman.
