GAM Removes 9,000 Tons of Garbage during ‘Eid Al Adha Holiday
Cadres and automotives of the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) collected, during Waqfa Day and 'Eid Al Adha holiday around 9, 000 tons of garbage across the Capital.
Executive Director of Sanitation and Environment at GAM, Engineer Zaidoun Al Nsour, said that the amounts collected were hauled to the transformational complexes which, in turn transferred them to Al Ghabawi Dump site by trailers, and were scientifically treated as per the pertinent environmental requirements.
He pointed to the fact that 50% of GAM national cadre, whose number amounts to 3800, continued work in the first day of the 'Eid, and 75% worked in the second day, to reach 100% in the rest of the holiday days.
Al Nsour drew the attention to the fact that the garbage containers tracks remained as usual , and that the GAM cadres have, in the days preceding the Al Adha holiday, cleaned all the grave yards, and the mosque yards designated for 'Eid prayers, in addition to sweeping all sidewalks and the main streets manually and automatically.
It is worth mentioning that the garbage process has, since the start of Ramadan, operated the third compactor of the transformational station, dealing with 40% of the garbage re4ceived by the station, the normal capacity of which is 95% of the garbage hauled to Al Ghabawi Dump Site.
GAM has divided the city cleaning operations into six regions, namely : The first is Al 'Abdali, Zahran, and Basman; The second comprises Tarq, Marka, Al Naser, and Al Yarmouk; The third covers Ras Al 'Ein, Bader, Al Muqabalein, and Al Queismeh; The fourth includes Bader Al Jadeedah, Wadi Al Seer, Marj Al Hamam, Na'our, and Husban; the fifth comprises Sweileh, Tla' Al 'Ali, Al Jubeiha, Shafa Badran, and Abu Nseir; and the sixth covers Uhod, Sahab, Al Jeizah, Al Muwaqar, and Khreibet Al Souq.
Garbage quantities collected at the respective areas range according to the residential densities of the regions, at 500 tons daily from the first to 200 tons in the sixth.
