Building on the success of its inaugural conference, the Gulf Petrochemical and Chemical Association (GPCA) is organizing its 2nd Supply Chain Conference in the Kingdom of Bahrain on October 24-26.

Industry leaders from the Gulf and Global chemical and petrochemical communities will gather to discuss all aspects of the supply chain.  Issues that will be discussed include transporting liquid and bulk chemical products via land or sea, global standards and regulations, what the Middle East chemical companies are doing to ensure supplies are delivered to export markets safely, and how companies can deliver their goods in a cost-effective and socially responsible manner, and more.

At the Second GPCA Supply Chain Conference, delegates will discuss and debate issues related to the opportunities and challenges within this industry. The conference will be addressed by 12 prominent speakers from the Gulf and other parts of the world in 4 sessions over 2 days.  Delegates will get to hear relevant sessions covering:

Building and Maintaining a Sustainable Supply Chain - presented by Saleh I. Al-Shabnan, Project Executive, Supply Chain Management Project (EMDAD), SABIC

Building a Green Supply Chain and translating it Into Improved Bottom Line – presented by Suresh Krishnan, Supply Chain Leader for Dow Middle East and North Africa

Using Service Level in the Supply Chain Concept – presented by Christiaan Teulings, Vice President, Supply Chain Management, Borouge

Development Outlook of Ports – presented by Aamer A. Alireza, CEO, Red Sea Terminal

The theme of the conference this year will be “Serving Vibrant Global Markets,” and the focusing on analyzing the implications for Gulf Supply Chain Management.   The conference’s objective is to analyze the current landscape of the supply chain industry on a regional level, and what can be done to give this industry the proper atmosphere to grow rapidly and effectively cater to the massive expansion drive in the petrochemical and chemical production capacities in the Gulf region.

Dr. Abdulwahab Al Sadoun the Secretary General of GPCA said, “GPCA had been launched in 2006 to act as a platform for knowledge sharing and best practices exchange among member companies and with stakeholders. Through our networking events that focus on critical industry segments we strive to create the right platform where issues relevant to this strategic industry are discussed and debated. The development of a world-class supply chain industry in the Gulf region had been one of the critical contributors to the successful development of a globally competitive industry in our region. This success is demonstrated by the fact that the Gulf region’s share of total global output is currently 16% and this will grow to 20% by the year 2015. Given that the industry in the Gulf is export-oriented, this massive expansion within such a short timeframe will certainly create opportunities as well as challenges which will be the focus of the conference.”

“Given that, we expect a rich debate and discussion by industry leaders and executives in the supply chain industry and the petrochemical and chemical industry; it will provide the participants with a clear vision on the latest developments in the industry,” he added.
